TEACHERS -  We are pleased to report that we have tentative agreements on all of our working conditions, which is a real victory.  We are now ready to move on to the conversation about compensation.  The district team has instructed us they will not discuss compensation until after the levy.  Our team feels we need to continue to work toward assurances to restore the step regardless of the outcome of the levy and bond.  We plan to meet March 22 at 5:00 to continue to make our case for the frozen step.   Please join us.  Attached are the notes from our last meeting (030816).

PARENT EDUCATORS - The atmosphere has been positive.  They have listened to our rationales and we have walked through all but compensation.  They have offered one counterproposal but it did not include any language on our calendar or compensation - so basically it was just tweaking some things and offering their version of our section on “advisory."  They were somewhat perplexed by our calendar and said it would take some time.  We do not meet again till after the election, so at that time we plan to offer our presentation on compensation.  And, we hope to get their counterproposal for calendar.  Notes Our next meeting is April 6 at 7:30.  Attached are the notes from our March 3 and 10th meetings (030316 & 031016)

BARGAINED COMMITTEE REPORTS  Attached to this email are the committee reports from the work completed this past fall.  We were pleased to have over 35 CPS employees (teachers and administrators) serving on these committees but we are hopeful to increase that number next year.  The work these committees do is vital to our district and employees.  Please consider joining one of these committees.  In addition to summaries and recommendations, the attached reports list the dates met which can give you an idea of the commitment level.  This is the link to apply to join a district bargained committee:https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1eadX6XdIIpbR4HS0tQQ2h766hV_6-e_oD0ecB7-AZP4/viewform?usp=send_form

BARGAINING UPDATE
-Attached you will find the collective bargaining proposal we will be sending to the Board's team today.  We have bolded our suggested changes.  They are listed as bullets as a way to compromise on the needs of both teams.  CMNEA's team would like to be able to discuss the issues without getting hung up on language and the Board's team would like to see all requests in totality within the contract, before negotiating.  We are hopeful that this compromise will give both teams a huge head start in negotiations.  Our first negotiation session is scheduled for February 9 at Aslin at 5:00.  We hope to see you there.
